How to refresh your browser, and clear your cache and cookies in Google Chrome

(Last Updated On: )

When you use a browser, like Chrome, it saves some information from websites in its cache and cookies.

If something has been updated  on your Webtix page, you may need to refresh your browser to see the changes.

All browsers cache images and styles to speed up loading time. Those cached images take precedence whenever a change is made.

The cache is cleared out regularly by the browser. Sometimes every time you close it, sometimes every 24 hours, or every 30 days, etc. It depends on which browser and how it is configured.

Users might not see recently changed images like logos or headers right away. Or experience things like not being able to complete a required field during the purchase process.

If you were actively looking at the site while changes were made, those changes did not get applied to that browser. It is an issue that can only affect you on that computer, on that particular browser. That’s why on the same computer, it opens with the changes in another browser.

If the changes still don’t appear after refreshing your browser, clearing your cache or cookies can fix certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites.

Here is a website from the University of Iowa that explains how to clear the cache and cookies on most browsers.

What happens after  you clear cache and cookies:

  • Some settings on sites get deleted. For example, if you were signed in, you’ll need to sign in again.
  • Some sites can seem slower because content, like images, needs to load again.
